1956 Messerschmitt KR200 microcar

Classics  /   /  By Tony Piff

This 1956 Messerschmitt KR200 was reportedly acquired by its enthusiast owner in 2000. According to the listing, the owner gained experience working on these quirky cars in their native Germany when he was stationed there in the 1960s as an Air Force jet mechanic. He passed about a year ago, and the car is now being listed by his son (or daughter).

The car was restored in 1997 and was carefully maintained and used regularly until the owner’s death. Cosmetically, it looks like a nice, shiny driver, and the mechanics sound strong. The seller reportedly put in a new battery when the reserve was met, and he confirms that all lights, switches, wipers and such are functional, save for the horn.

Microcars continue to be very hot with collectors, and this one has an interesting story that sets it apart and inspires confidence. It will need a mechanical once-over, but it looks like a solid car. See the listing here, with reserve already met.
