As SEMA 2020 Goes Virtual, Past Show-Stoppers Hit eBay

SEMA  /   /  By Mark Bach

SEMA, the annual aftermarket auto show, kicks off today. To celebrate, we are highlighting a few of the best past SEMA cars now listed for sale on eBay Motors.

eBay Motors is like a year-round virtual presentation of knockout SEMA cars and products. And you can bid on any of them—turning the show into a marketplace. You can see these cars throughout the year on eBay’s SEMA Custom Builds page.

SEMA has been held every year since 1967. Sadly, the pandemic canceled the Vegas event. Instead, the Specialty Equipment Market Association will present SEMA360, a digital showcase.

Great SEMA builds and products are not just created for the convention center floor. They are meant to be driven. Here are four shining examples of past SEMA cars ready to hit the road.

A Glowing, High-Riding Jeep Wrangler

2019 SEMA Jeep Wrangler

This lifted 2019 Jeep Wrangler JL Sahara was meant to debut at SEMA 2020. Instead, eBay has the wild Wrangler known as the “Big Drip,” for sale. It has less than 5,000 miles on the clock.

The Jeep rides on giant 40-inch tires two-tone teal and black Forgiato rims. You’ll see them from a mile away when they are lit up by color-changing ring lights from Oracle.

That’s only the beginning of the long list of custom equipment, including a 4.5-inch lift kit and powder-coated undercarriage (with the same teal color theme). Other add-ons include front and rear aftermarket bumpers, skid plates, adjustable shocks, and rock sliders. This Jeep is ready for off-pavement adventures.

Chip Foose’s 2004 Mustang

Let’s rewind to SEMA 2004. That’s when SEMA presented a spectacular 1970 Ford Mustang built by Chip Foose for the Overhaulin’ television show. It’s now for sale on eBay.

Foose was a guest contributor to the eBay Motors Blog in 2015. He wrote about his love of SEMA, his favorite tools, and the future of hot-rodding.

The list of SEMA customizations on his 2004 Mustang includes a crate 514 cubic-inch Ford engine and official Foose Design wheels. There are Baer brakes, QA1 shocks, and a Currie 9- inch rear end. The trunk hides a custom Kicker sound system.

SEMA Trucks Galore

2019 SEMA Chevy Colorado

Last year’s SEMA showcased the beautiful brown C-10 pickup camper, recently offered on eBay. But the show is always loaded with radical trucks of all kinds.

A 2019 Chevrolet Colorado, now offered on eBay, is a great example. The 4×4 crew cab uses a 2.8-liter Duramax engine to supply low-end grunt. Fox coilovers and a BDS 5-inch lift provide rock-crawling capabilities. (See our “Quick Guide to Coilovers.”) And 37-inch Falken tires add grip to the Machete beadlock wheels.

The next owner is set up for Overlanding with a Tuff Stuff rooftop tent and Rigid LED lighting.

Chopped Super-Sleek ’54 Chevy

1954 SEMA Chevy 2010

A 1954 Chevrolet resto-mod was built for the SEMA 2016. The Chevy 210 model was chopped four inches and put on an AirRide suspension. Not sleek enough? Nope, the builder removed trim pieces to create a hulking black mass for its body.

The striking ’54 Chevy uses a crate 350 V-8 engine for power. The builder added drivability via added power steering, modern brakes, and a four-speed automatic transmission.

eBay Motors: Where SEMA Cars Are Bought and Sold

Thousands of vendors usually show off their innovations at SEMA in Las Vegas. The real stars at SEMA are the outrageous vehicle builds. But what happens to these cars after the show?

Some of the SEMA builds go directly to the people and companies that commissioned them. Others hit the auto show circuit. And when these rides have served their promotional purposes, they often end up for sale on eBay Motors.

Check back with us in the coming days as we highlight the latest, greatest aftermarket products and car builds at the virtual SEMA360.
