Land Rover has commissioned a special, one-off build of a Range Rover that will have the same specifications as the original eight Great Divide Expedition vehicles used to cross the Continental Divide 25 years ago – a special edition Range Rover that was never sold to the public. This unique 1990 Range Rover Great Divide Expedition replica is to be auctioned on eBay, starting August 4, with proceeds going to Tread Lightly!, an non-profit organization that promotes safe and responsible off-road driving.
From the original eight Great Divide Expedition vehicles, only three are known to be in working order. The replica being auctioned is being built to match the original specifications as closely as possible – down to the roof rack and towing winch.

Land Rover is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Great Divide Expedition by embarking on another journey along the Continental Divide. As part of the expedition, a caravan of current Land Rover models will travel nearly 1,000 miles of unpaved roads and 4×4 trails along a portion of the original 1989 Great Divide route. Consisting of narrow rocky trails with steep drop-offs and treacherous mountain passes reaching over 13,000 feet, the trail route aims to demonstrate the off-road capabilities of unmodified Land Rover vehicles.
